Hair loss is a sensitive subject. It impacts men and women on different levels. Cosmetic hair tattoo procedures take multiple sessions, each session lasting 1-4 hours. So you will spend quite a bit of time with your SMP provider. During your consultation you will inevitably discuss with your SMP provider how you feel about your hair loss and how you hope to feel after the procedure. During your sessions you will talk to your SMP provider, much like you chat with your hair stylist! In this blog we are just going to discuss a few reasons why some of you out there, may want to have a highly qualified woman, work on your cosmetic hair tattoo.
Don’t get us wrong, this is your head, you need to work with a qualified artist above all else. We would never suggest you choose your artist (or anything for that matter) based solely on gender, nor would we suggest that any SMP artist won’t work on someone of a different gender, that simply isn’t the case.
There are several reasons why a female may prefer to have another female provide a scalp micropigmentation (SMP) procedure.
Here are a few possibilities:
- Comfort and trust: Some women may feel more comfortable and at ease with a female practitioner during intimate procedures like SMP. They may find it easier to discuss their concerns, ask questions, and share personal experiences with someone of the same gender.
- Empathy and understanding: Female SMP practitioners may have a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and emotional aspects that women face when dealing with hair loss. They can offer a more empathetic approach and relate to their clients on a personal level, fostering a stronger connection and sense of understanding.
- Privacy and modesty: Hair loss can be a sensitive issue for many women, and having a female SMP practitioner can help preserve privacy and maintain a sense of modesty during the procedure. Some women may feel more comfortable exposing their scalp and discussing personal details with a female practitioner.
- Cultural or religious reasons: In some cultures or religions, there may be specific norms or restrictions regarding interactions between men and women. Having a female SMP practitioner can align with these cultural or religious beliefs and ensure adherence to personal or community values.
It’s important to note that the preference for a female SMP practitioner may vary from person to person.
Some women may not have a strong preference and are comfortable receiving SMP services from practitioners of any gender. Ultimately, the most crucial factor is finding a skilled and reputable SMP practitioner who can meet your individual needs and provide the desired results, regardless of their gender.
